Monday October 18 23:27
mood: like off on a tangent
song: the chorus of "Riley" trying to think of a proper harmony
Sometimes I ramble:
What are the odds of receiving two jars of homemade jam from two different people on the same day?
One. I guess. Plum and some sort of berry thing, I think. Maybe people give out jam in October.
I like October. Maybe because I like words that start with "O" (Orange, Ocean, Olive, Obtusipennate,) maybe because there is a slight change in the scenery from our burnt brown summer and things actually start to look colorful again. Like looking through prisms at leaves and stirring up the sky with your finger until the clouds look all swirly.
Colorful, but cold. And it rained today, yesterday, last night, and probably tonight. This is when I start to wish the piano was in a different room than the fireplace so we could light up without warping something important.
And the fireplace is great in winter, because pretty soon we'll be buying Christmas presents and wishing we could build snowmen out of the faint hail that melts as soon as it touches the valley ground.
So anyway, what's next, what's new?
I guess things have been going along quite well in their usual hussly-bussly sort of ways. I'm recording again, we finally got t-shirts, I'm writing some new songs, and the tour is coming together.
The band seems happy enough. We're getting tighter and have more ideas for the stage. It's fun to watch it all come together - as slow as it does.
The Megan Slankard Band Yahoo group is hopping as much as ever too. I'm hoping they won't divulge too many of the personal secrets of how Megan Slankard really works. But then again, I'm not sure myself, so no worries there.
Other than music - I just watched the "Shawshank Redemption" and realized that the slightest sign of brutality in movies bothers me. I'm starting to think even Shrek 2 was a little much. Maybe I'll stick to books and leave it to my imagination.
I'm already to book 5 in the Harry Potter world. I can't set it down, and that usually makes me late for appointments. I think I'll read "The DeVinci Code" after the Potter series. I've heard it's good. Maybe "Life of Pi" - mom read it.
My new tasty craves are Honey B's cereal, hot chocolate, vanilla chai tea, bean salad, and pizza…
I've also picked up this nasty habit of rambling on and on when I write my blogs…
I think I'll go join Harry Potter with a cup of cocoa, turn on the heater and sit on the vent under the piano next to the fireplace…
Until next time:
Yours,
megan
